Do you, or someone you know, work in the public sector as a teacher, firefighter, police officer, government or municipal employee? If so, don’t count on that pension!! Check out this New York Times article.
Attached is a great article by Emily Brandon of US News & World Report entitled 10 Ways to Ruin Your Retirement , where she points out that there is much more to retirement than accumulating a large nest egg. Just a few points to highlight; first, don’t rely on a single source of income. Emily points out that you should have between 4 and 6 income streams. The problem is that this is getting much harder to accomplish with social security on shaky ground and pensions disappearing. Read the rest of this entry
Still don’t believe that our current system is broken? That working a 9 to 5 job for 40 years and retiring with a fat pension, retirement account and social security are a thing of the past? Here is an incredible article by Michael Snyder of The Business Insider:

Are you or someone you know looking for an opportunity? Contact us today.
Every time I see the news, it’s more of the same. In an article dated July 2nd Chris Isadore, Senior Writer for CNN Money, states that the recession killed off 7.9 million jobs and it’s increasingly likely that many will never come back. What’s worse is that “it’s virtually certain that the next recession will come before the job market has healed from the last recession”, says Lakshman Achuthan, managing director of Economic Cycle Research Institute.
If you are working, you need to prepare for the next recession. You need a back-up plan. If you are out of work, there ARE options….like starting a home-based business. My team and I are helping those who are looking for an opportunity. Feel free to contact me if you have interest in learning more.
I’ll start out this blog post similar to my last by asking the question; do you have a back-up plan in the event that you lose your job or part of your income? You should! I learned that lesson the hard way when I lost my job in December of ‘08. Don’t make the same mistake that I did. Don’t think that it can’t happen to you. Don’t assume that if it does you will find another job right away.
What would you do if you lost your job tomorrow? How are you preparing yourself for the “new economy”? Are you doing the same things you’ve always done and expecting a different result (isn’t that the definition of insanity)? Or are you taking steps to make sure you don’t land in America’s new underclass?
